It has been another busy week. On Monday Dr. Lee did a Facelift with Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty which was a full day surgery. On Wednesday he performed a browlift, a little unusual as Browlift surgery is typically done with an upper eye surgery but this patient just wanted a browlift. And then a nice Breast
Reduction surgery on a patient who has been suffering from neck, shoulder and
back pain.
Finally on Friday he did a breast implant removal with total capsulectomy. This was an interesting case as they the patient’s breast implants were 40 years old. She had earlier had an ultrasound and discovered they were ruptured. There was also severe capsular contracture that caused distortion of shape. It was definitely time to have her implants removed.
Upon opening up the patient it was noted there was abnormal and permanent folding of the breast implants. The implants had been leaking silicone gel material and the capsules were very thick with calcification due to the body’s build up of scar tissue to contain the leakage.
Dr. Lee was able to remove the capsule together with the implant to contain any leakage into the surrounding tissue. The patient is relieved to finally have them out and is now on the mend.
The end of a busy week!
